Effective October 1, 2020, the District’s medical cannabis program has transitioned to the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration (ABRA).

During the transition period, patient and caregiver applications, healthcare practitioner medical cannabis recommendations, and all other standard service requests will continue to be processed uninterrupted.

Customer service support is available Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. ABRA may be reached by:

• Email | medicalcannabis@dc.gov • Phone | (202) 442-4423

You may also find the answer to your question(s) along with helpful resources and applications 24/7 at abra.dc.gov.

All qualifying patients have the right to obtain and use marijuana for medical purposes when his or her primary healthcare practitioner has provided a written recommendation that bears his or her signature and license number. This recommendation must assert that the use of marijuana is medically necessary for the patient for the treatment of a qualifying medical condition or to mitigate the side effects of a qualifying medical treatment.
